Long-distance move from Richmond, VA to Peoria, AZ

Long distance move from VA to AZ

TSI is a broker who hired a mover to ship two (2) pieces of furniture (vintage, heirloom, been in the family since mid-1800’s). Once hired I had to initiate all follow-ups. The shipper stripped down the two (2) pieces into eight (8) separate groups. Two groups included crown molding from the top of a secretary (hutch/desk/cabinet combination) and six (6) drawers (4 from secretary and 2 from a double drop leaf table). My first indication that the aforementioned two (2) groups were lost was when only six (6) groups were delivered. I was told the other two (2) groups would be delivered the following week. My second indication that the items were lost was receiving a confirmation that a claim was submitted to the insurance company. To paraphrase, TSI’s response to my final email to them was that sometimes items are separated or lost In the 10,000 moves they handle, they are sorry and they acknowledged that I was insured.

They also mentioned their many positive reviews and their low loss rate compared to the industry. Three (3) stars is only an average review rate. When they realize this maybe they will improve their service. Hopefully I will receive a full refund as well as the full value of the insurance. The furniture will never be whole, even with remanufactured molding and drawers, which is left to me to accomplish. In hindsight, I should have used a PODs type service to have a much, much better control over the shipment.

Official company response

TSI recognizes and understands the customer's frustration. We have had our carrier check on the missing pieces and when they were not found, our insurance company got involved. We do know that the customer is working on finding a carpenter to try and replicate the items and we hope that can be accomplished. We are sorry for this issue and our goal and hope was to locate the items for the customer.

Long-distance move from Danville, CA to Denver, CO

TSI Poor Customer Service and No Follow Through

We contracted with TSI to move furniture from Calif to Colorado. They overpromised and underdelivered from the sales rep, Carol, grossly miscalculating the fees we would owe, to the lack of communication from TSI, to being bounced around to various entities. When we discussed things with Carol, she got defensive and said it was our fault because we had more boxes of items added to the order but the boxes did not weight 50 pounds each - and were NOT the reason for her gross miscalculation. She was off by 1400 pounds - and touted her expertise about how she can take a look at photos and dimensions of furniture to accurately calculate the weight estimate and fees to be paid. She was send photos and dimensions of ALL items BEFORE the movers arrived.

It was a bait and switch. Underestimate the fees to get a client to book the service when in reality the $7,000 we ended up paying was far MORE than we would have paid for a different type of moving service. If they had been truthful about the estimate we would have opted to use a different company, and they don't want to lose business so they make it seem like a good deal up front, and then do the old "gotcha" after you have signed up.

The movers who showed up to my mother in law's house were rushed and rude. They did not get all the items that were supposed to picked up. We had a person on site who documented how things went - and even though the property had a lot going on inside, it was very organized as far as the items they would be taking. The movers complained about how they thought it was not organized, did not take their time to note everything that we had taken time to tape with green tape. I had even prepared a spreadsheet list of what was being taken along with photos. Carol at TSI had ALL that information. They did not provide that to the movers, and the movers forgot items and TSI took ZERO responsibility for us having to then use UPS or FedEx to get the remaining items shipped that THEIR movers forgot, costing us extra money.

The paperwork they used that day was a scribbled mess. We could not make heads or tails of what was actually loaded on the truck. This could not have been their first experience working on a clear out of a house from a person who has died. There was zero empathy for the situation, for us losing our family member - just complaints and rudeness.

When we disputed the fees, we were treated rudely and escalated things to the VP. He tried to address things to make it go more smoothly, however that did not work. We got ZERO communication that our items were actually in transit until the day they arrived in Colorado and some other company called us to try and schedule a delivery. We had not been notified of anything - and they gave us no notice to get things ready for them. We put off the delivery so we could deal with the confusion. We were not told our items would be offloaded to some 3rd party place in Denver, we were told our items would come from point A to point B.

That was a lie. So our items were handled 2x as much as they should have been which leads to potential damage.

We were required to pay 100% up front to get our items delivered or they would hold them hostage, so we had zero recourse or leverage to ensure our items were in the same condition as when they left California.

The actual company that stored our items and then delivered them - had us fill out the detailed damage information - which we did. There has been ZERO follow up. We have emailed multiple times asking about WHO will take care of the items damaged in transit. We have been completely ghosted by Robert - the VP, Carol in sales and Leah from the storage company. No one has responded, we have damaged furniture that needs to be repaired and we are not going to just be a victim of their negligence and lack of customer care. This is a company you should NOT work with. They do NOT care about their customers. They do NOT follow up. They HIDE from responsibilities. They avoid making things right.

Our business practice here at TSI is to be honest and upfront when quoting shipments even if that means we may not get the sale. We have to rely on our customers to present us with the facts and their best estimation of inventory. We are also very clear that our price may increase depending upon the items loaded if different than the quoted inventory. Since this was an estate breakup, the customer was not on site at the pickup location and relied on another party to be sure the correct items were loaded by the movers. Many boxes were added and furniture was also added which did increase the cost, a fact we state at booking. This was no bait and switch but a shipment in which the initial inventory differed tremendously and the customer is not happy with the increase in price .

Long-distance move from California to Washington

"White Glove" tansport of fragile houshold goods.

Transit Systems managed the transport of fragile antiques and other expensive breakables with simplified and cost-effective methods. The shipment was picked up on time and observed to be handled carefully while arriving on the early side of the stated time frame damage-free and carefully placed into its new home. Everyone involved with the process was professional and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone. It should be noted that I spent the time to communicate my needs and describe the pieces to be transported to Transit Systems so they knew what we were trying to accomplish. I carefully packaged the items but only as one would as if one was hand-carrying each box. My experience was exactly as Transit Systems described it would be for the "White Glove" treatment. UPS/ Fed Ex does not compare.

Long-distance move from Murrells Inlet, SC to Fort Worth, TX

Beware and Do Your Due Diligence Before Hiring TSI

I reached out to get a quote for packing & shipping a 40lb piece of art from Murrell Inlet, SC to Fort Worth, TX with dimensions approximately 3.5 feet by 2.5 feet.

I already received a quote for $400. When I received the quote from TSI, I almost had a heart attack. These clowns--specifically Carol T--quoted $1216 and said I better order ASAP to get on schedule.

Incredulous, I responded back. Unsurprisingly, Carol T stuck her tail between her legs and didn't even reply. In fact, she didn't even read--or has trouble reading--the actual request because her response says they'll arrive to pack the furniture items. No furniture here. Just one piece of heavy art.

GOOD LUCK GETTING A QUOTE FROM TSI. I'll never request one from them again--I ship art weekly--unless I start enjoying getting bent over. Of course, it doesn't take long from a Google search to realize this is normal practice for these frauds who only want to take advantage of you.

This person requested a quote for a single item. After taking the information including weight and dims, our sales representative responded with our minimum charge. TSI handles consolidated moves (things too large for fedex or UPS) but not quite as large as a full 4-5 bedroom home. I have seen the email exchange between our sales representative and this person and it is quite offensive. He was rude, vulgar and attacked our employee on her work ethic. The simple truth is that this was not a good fit for the type of shipments we handle and not economical for this person. After reading his comments in the email exchange and this post- TSI would not entertain booking this shipment and prefer this customer seek shipping services elsewhere. A simple- this is not in my budget would have been sufficient, no need for the unpleasantries.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to New York, NY

Total Scam.

If you value your belongings, please do not entrust to this company. The photos speak for themselves.

Transit is not an actual moving company, they are merely brokers. We booked a move with them from Atlanta to New York City. We paid THOUSANDS of extra dollars to Transit for packing and added insurance, on top of the moving charges, to secure our valuable, fragile items.

Transit gave our job to Don Farr Movers (see their Yelp page). The movers were completely unprofessional. When we realized they were not packing our fragile items appropriately, we asked for better packing. Movers told us to let them do their jobs. We had flights booked for the next morning so had no choice but to let them proceed with the move.

When the items were delivered, two fragile, expensive vases were completely shattered. I reached out many times to Transit, including sending a note to the CEO. Ultimately, they denied all responsibility and referred us to Don Farr. After 9+ months in the claims process, Don Farr denied the claim, citing lack of crating.

When I spoke to someone at DF, she told me that crating was not part of their work order from Transit and therefore they are not responsible. They claim Transit did not make clear that there were fragile, high-value items in the shipment.

Booking a move through Transit was a huge mistake. When something goes wrong, no one will take responsibility. Use them at your own risk.

Long-distance move from New Hampshire to Colorado

Are they paying employees to write reviews.

Are employees writing these reviews?? Just be careful if you talk to jerome fagan, or kim tapscott. it seemed like a good company after talking with Jerome Fagan a Rep for TSI. Shipping estimate was way off told me 4 days, shipment finally arrived May 19th, pickup date was may 6th. When the canoe arrived it was damaged by a fork lift, repairable but damaged. TSI was not concerned with the proof only the terms and conditions. which state about signing and writing damaged on the receipt and it has to be done within 2 days of receiving package.  It seems like common business practice by TSI to just take your money, ship your package, and don't really care about what happens and then charge you more money because you can. Just really bad business practices. In the rare rare case (as the owner states) which is not true just read any of the 100's of cases where packages were lost or damaged. It still doesn't change that fact that your amazing company damaged the canoe and won't do anything to fix the problem. And on top of all that TSI charged me an additional 266 dollars to ship my canoe what they say is for added weight, no phone call form them to notify me of this, YOU CAN NOT TRUST ANYTHING THIS COMPANY TELLS YOU, and they only give you two days to file a complaint, and nice add on making it personal about your BBB accreditation, that means nothing and the BBB doesn't do anything, BBB rep's sound just like TSI rep'sd wonder where their budget comes from.  If you would like to file a real complaint that has a chance of going somewhere you can file one with the attorney general.• • •.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to California

Do Not Use This Company.

I hired Transit Systems on June 16, 2016 for a full white glove service move from Manchester, CT to San Diego, CA. The employee that was assigned to my move was Tom Tract. He was very nice and helpful for the first few days that I talked with him about getting the paperwork and 10,000 full blanket insurance squared away. Transit Systems contracted out the moving service to a company called Don Farr Moving & Storage. I received a call from an employee from Don Farr's office in PA on Monday, June 27 that the driver of the truck would be reaching out to me on Tuesday, June 28th with the time that they would be arriving on Wednesday, June 29th. I never received a phone call on the 28th. I called the Don Farr office the morning of the 29th (moving day) and told them I never got a call for an estimated time of arrival and they were very apologetic and said the driver would be reaching out to me shortly. The driver said he would arrive between 11 and noon. By 2:00 they still weren't there so at that point I started moving the items by myself out of the storage unit on the 2nd floor to the 1st floor so I wasn't just wasting time waiting for them. By the time the movers got there (8 PM), 8 hours late, I had moved 3/4 of my stuff from my second floor unit to the first floor, basically doing their entire job.

Once my stuff arrived in San Diego, the extent of my furniture damage was just totally unacceptable to the point where I wanted an explanation of what happened. A majority of my wood pieces were totally destroyed and wood just cut into half. They crushed and lost 2 boxes of mine. Glass was broken everywhere and lastly there was a significant amount of blood on one of my couches. I asked to speak to a manager MULTIPLE times and I was put through to Tom Tract every time and he would not but me through to someone above him. I also had a lawyer call the Director of Operations of the moving company, John Tract (same last name as Tom, no wonder why I never got to management). The lawyer left a voicemail with John and we never heard back. I went through the insurance company and processed claims of around $6,000 and I only received $850 for insurance. My coffee table alone that they destroyed was $250 and they tried to say they will get new slipcovers for my original custom made couch, the slipcovers they reimbursed me for are a total of $189 from Overstock, no thank you. I am in the process of a BBB complaint for a full refund of my moving costs. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I hired Transit Systems (who has 4 star rating on yelp and and an A rating on BBB) but then they contracted out to this company Don Farr moving that has 2 star ratings on yelp and not associated with BBB, interesting. If you want your things ruined and the worst customer service ever then this is the place!!

Transit Systems Moves for Seniors.

Save your money!!

I contacted Transit Systems Inc. Moves for Seniors to coordinate my move.
Based on questions about the contents of the proposed move. Moves for Seniors estimated a cost of $6533.36. IAW their terms and conditions, they charged my credit card for approximately half of the estimate ($3265.00).
Note that their terms and conditions have provisions for raising the eventual cost, but no provisions for reducing the cost, if the actual cost is less than the estimate.

After the move was completed, the mover “misspoke” and told me the total cost of the move ($5280.54). Moves for Seniors then revised the estimate on their invoice to $8545.54 and noted that it was paid in full. Moves for Seniors took the total cost, and charged that to my credit card. They had previously charged my credit card half of the estimated cost, for a total of $8545.54 charged to my card.

When I brought the above to the attention of the Senior Partner Services Manager, I was told: “The original quote and invoice from Moves for Seniors was for $6533.36. This is the price of the move.  The mover misspoke in talking to you about the cost of the move. I apologize for any confusion that this may have caused. We are going to refund you
$ 2012.18”

(Note again, that the estimate is the price of the move, without any regard to a reduction in actual cost.)

I then responded with the following: “Thank you for the response. So if I understand your answer..Transit Systems charged $1252.82 for their service. I would have saved that amount, if I had dealt directly with the mover.”

I then told her that I intended to post negative reviews on the BBB, Yelp, Google, and others ( I could not find a way to post it to Moves for Seniors site). To which, she asked me to wait while she tried to find another solution and wound up elevating the situation “to management.” I have waited two business days, and haven't heard anything more.

The movers did an excellent job, and I have no complaints with them.

Moves for Seniors charged approximately 38% of the $8545 invoice, and now wants to charge approximately 19% of the $6533 price.
I feel this is an unreasonable charge for the minimal service they provided.

Save the cost of Moves for Seniors, and contact a mover directly!

Transit Systems Inc Damages Furniture.

If you do not value your furniture or personal items, choose Transit Services, Inc. (TSI). They are unprofessional, dishonest, and careless. My furniture was delivered September 2, 2017 and even though the company claims to provide white glove service, almost all of the items are heavily damaged.

TSI uses subcontractors to move their furniture and I was assigned Don Farr/Hindman Moving and Storage. When the company picked up my furniture the driver made a point of telling me that he purposely damaged furniture if he didn't like a customer, peed in the rosebush at a customer's home with the intent to damage it, threw up on a customer's rug when the owner did not offer him water, and tried to intimidate my family. I personally watched him drag my brand new mattress down the hall, drop an expensive dining room chair in perfect condition off of his dolly (fortunately I caught it), and miscount the items he was supposed to be documenting. As a result I had to correct the manifest myself. In addition, the driver was in so much of a rush that he was moving my belongings into the truck without labeling them appropriately or wrapping the furniture. I was told by Transit Services that this moving company was professional.

The fact that TSI would work with this subcontractor says a lot about TSI's company values and business conduct. I complained when my furniture was picked up and I spoke to my contact, Kathy Temple, a Senior Sales Specialist, and her supervisor Operations Manager Robert Whitehead, and neither one of them took my concerns seriously. Bob's response to my concerns was, "The driver just talks to much." Now, my furniture has arrived and there is at least $4,584.49 worth of damage. My family and I were in tears when the furniture arrived.

When the driver (Chris) dropped off the furniture and it was clearly damaged, he refused to let me document it and even tried to hide the damage by placing the furniture surfaces out of sight. His intent was to have me sign the documentation without noting any damages. How can TSI be proud of this service? I could say more about the physical and emotional harm this company has caused, but I think the photos will give you most of the information you need to make an informed decision - CHOOSE ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY. I regret not doing more research initially and I hope that this review helps your protect your furniture and belongings.

TSI transit moved a family antique China Hutch from Belton, Texas to Iowa for me. They met my contact in Texas and wrapped the hutch with heavy moving blankets. TSI totally incompetent; DO NOT USE THEM.

These guys managed to lose 9/26 boxes that I shipped from Chicago to Oregon. They do NOT track boxes (no labels, bar codes, etc.); they do NOT EVEN track number of boxes shipped!

As near as I can tell, these guys just outsource everything (not surprising) but don't hold their subs to any kind of quality procedures. Basically, we are SOL unless someone manages to find the boxes (which are labeled with our name, address, and phone).

We can get 10c/pound back, but we're out 3-4K's between shipping charges and value of contents.

I would NEVER use these guys or even consider using them.

BEWARE!

p.s. I was offered a massage as a consolation prize.

We apologize for the current status of this shipment and are diligently working to locate the lost boxes. We are a third party logistics company and work with a nationwide network of trusted carriers. While our problematic shipment rate is much lower than the industry average (3% compared to 15%), that hardly matters when your shipment has gone poorly. We have been in contact with Marc throughout this process and are doing everything in our power to rectify this situation.

Worst Company in The World!!

Wow!! where can I start seeing from all the reviews this there is a lot of complaints I'm not sure why it's rated A in bbb. The delivery started in New Jersey they pick up our mattress white glove service we paid extra for and they were very professional they picked up the mattress had enough people to carry it. The problem started when they got to Texas. 1. Transit gave our delivery to another company which we did not agree with. 2. The 3rd company metropolitan Couldn't find our address which we explain very very clearly. 3. We paid for a white glove service and the movers ask for our help very unprofessional. 4 The mover came into our Room filled with mud and we just got this brand new house Completely ruined our rug. 5. Then my husband had to help the movers move the Mattress. 6. The UN professional movers opened our Box outside in the rain and dirtied it with mud/ Dropped in mud. We told them we did not want the mattress and they took it back. Now we've been calling transit and metropolitan which has Been a huge problem. Transit kept saying we don't have insurance Which from what I'm reading a lot of people go through the same problem with them. Do you seriously need and InsuranceTo have the job done right which we paid for. It is not our responsibility that your employees and 3rd company ruined our mattress. Every day we called the company and they always say please allow 24 the 40 hours which has been going on for A month now. We have been nice speaking tothem but obviously it does not work and now we have to move This to court. She said let me give you an option you can have your ruin mattress back or a 60 cents a pound after ruining your mattress are you serious we want a full of refund of what we paid for our new mattress we gave her receipt pictures of the mudIn the mattress. What if your employees were upset put a knife in the mattress and said Hey you have insurance but I'll just ruin your mattress because I am upset do you cover thatYour liability insurance should cover stupid employees. Either you pay the full amount of the mattress back to us or we go to court and You will pay even more for this stress were going through because of your horrible Business.

Believe the reviews - this company is garbage

I wish I'd read these reviews before I ever contacted TSI. They lost priceless items of mine, used a subcontracted mover whose reviews are almost as bad as these, and made no effort to locate my irreplaceable items. There is no real compensation they could offer - but you'd think they would try. You'd have better luck shipping your stuff through UPS.

TSI has been working with our long distance carrier for a month to retrace and locate this customers items. There was a discrepancy on the pickup paperwork which caused part of the issue and the shipper who was present did sign off on the paperwork to say all was correct at origin when loaded. However when the shipment arrived, there were missing items. This is a very unfortunate situation and we have spared no effort in the search. In addition the customer has said multiple times that the items were very valuable but despite this, they declined additional insurance when they booked with TSI. Although the items are still not found, we have told the warehouse to please keep their eyes open in the event the items are located and if they are, we will certainly ship asap to the customer.

Great experience with TSI

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to San Diego, CA

TSI Movers

I am 64-years-old and TSI Movers is one of the most INEPT, DISHONEST and UNETHICAL companies I have ever dealt with. TSI specializes in ‘small moves’ - under 2000 pounds - which the big moving companies do not handle. My load was, probably, well below 1000 pounds. My Mother, who lived outside Pittsburgh, died in mid-June. It was my job to clear out her condo, and prepare it to be listed for sale. It was a big job, but by the end of July, the items that I was going to have sent to San Diego - where I live - were ready to go. The load consisted of 2 small tables, 15 or 16 boxes, of varying sizes, and an old brass cash register. I called TSI and received an estimate from Steve Sargent, who I dealt with, almost exclusively, for the next 2 months. The estimate was $1620. I gave Steve my credit card number, and that was that. I thought. For the next 2 months, in which I exchanged at least 20 calls with Steve, there was a mix of empty promises and ineptitude. Oh, and excuses. Plenty of excuses. At the outset, I provided Steve with 2 contact numbers: mine (I was back in San Diego) and a friend in Pittsburgh, who lived 30 minutes from the condo. Providing TSI with 2 contact numbers was to be certain that, at least, one of us could be reached, and coordinate the pick-up date with the building management. Remember that the condo, itself, was empty. Steve told me, sometime later, long after the load should have been delivered, that TSI had called my friend twice, but got no answer. TSI had transcribed her phone number incorrectly, putting down 19 instead of 91. So, did they call me, instead??

ABSOLUTELY NOT. I was told by Steve that TSI attempted deliveries, twice, at the condo building. But NO NOTICE WAS GIVEN TO ANYONE! The management was, absolutely, not going to allow a drop-off to an empty and locked condo, and without notifying them of a date, approximate time, and proof of insurance. After 2 months of unreturned phone calls, empty promises and ineptitude, it seemed as if an actual pickup was going to happen. On a Friday morning, another moving company - apparently a sub-contractor to TSI - called, and a date and time was arranged. Two hours later, Steve called me. This is how he began:

“We’re going to be unable to fulfill your move.” That is VERBATIM. I was flabbergasted. An angry 20 minute conversation ensued. At one point, I told Steve that we had a contract. His response: “Well, that’s just terms and conditions.” Again, VERBATIM. I said:

“THAT IS A CONTRACT!! Terms and conditions, and a signature at the bottom.” I asked for a reason. Steve said he didn’t know the reason, which was an OBVIOUS LIE. That should be obvious to anyone reading this. Steve said my payment would be put back on my credit card. That took 2 WEEKS. Anyway, by this time, the condo had sold, and the closing date was fast approaching. I had to scramble to find a different ‘small load’ mover, and one that could do a pickup within a few days. I finally did so, but it cost me $300 more than I had paid TSI.

In summary, anyone who reads my review, and still contracts with TSI, has to be out of their mind. Don’t walk away from TSI. RUN!!

Official company response

TSI made the decision to cancel this move after several issues with communication failures between the dispatcher, payer and shipper by refunding this customer. When shipments book it is absolutely critical that the lines of communication are open and that we can reach all parties in order to facilitate a timely and efficient move. Our dispatcher, sales representative and Operations manager worked diligently to try and facilitate this process but were unsuccessful. After several attempts without luck, it became apparent this move would not be a success and TSI did the honest and ethical thing by letting the customer know this would not be the right fit for us nor him. We are sorry we could not service this move but it was clear that the issues would have made it impossible to service this shipment up to the service level we strive for. We hope the customer was able to find an alternate solution and apologize for any inconvenience.

Horrible experience. They took months to deliver a dining table set. Lost the chairs. Lie and deceive me and my customer everytime we contacted them. All the care is about getting a one time big payment from you. They don't really care about repeating customers. Or small businesses. Or the sentimental value of your things. They are there to make money. Their prices are outrageous. Ship with Uship by booking small shipping companies of 1 truck and two guys driving. They care and put love on what they do. And you support small companies and not greedy unethical big corporations like this one

TSI has been trying to assist this customer with a claim and service credit. The customer insists however that they should be compensated more than the shipment is covered for monetarily despite the insurance certificate and terms and conditions being sent and accepted by them. TSI has a claim in process and is willing to help the customer with a service credit for the inconvenience. Per our terms and conditions we are not obligated to do more than the limited liability coverage but have offered to do more for this cutomer. We care about our customers and have a department specifically designated to assist with any issues. If this customer wants to continue the claim and is interested in the service credit, they can contact TSI via email at QA@transitsystems.com.

Long-distance move from Maricopa, AZ to Lexington, SC

Move of antique furniture

Thank goodness my Son took pictures of the two pieces I had shipped. One was an antique settee, with wooden arms. It left Arizona in good shape, but arrived in South Carolina with one arm broken in two. The man that delivered it argued with me that it was that way when it was picked up. Again thank goodness for my pictures. I contacted the company, was told I would have a response in a couple of days. More than a week later I mailed to get a response several days later that they would refund $30 of my shipping since I didn’t purchase additional insurance. At the time it was offered I declined the insurance since I was assured the utmost care would take care of my furniture. Learned my lesson.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $875

Official company response

TSI shipped several items from AZ to SC for this customer. While we strive to have things go smoothly on each and every move- things can happen on occasion. We offer additional insurance on every move in the event of a loss or damage but in this particular case the insurance was declined. We have processed a claim for limited liability coverage which comes standard with each shipment. While we do not anticipate damages or losses and are damage rate is well below industry standards, when shipments are transported long distances, particularly antiques- it is a good idea to include supplemental insurance.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Durango, CO

Everything went off without a hitch

We were shipping 5 pieces of furniture (a couple of which were antiques) and 10 boxes from Houston, Texas to Durango, Colorado. Didn’t want to spend a fortune and didn’t have any strict time restraints. I chose TSI because they specialized in small moves. They gave me a quote online. We did not schedule the move until 6 months later at which time they asked for more precise measurements. The quoted price remained the same. Their guys were extremely careful and wrapped every piece of furniture so well that I thought there was no way they could get damaged. Although they will only guarantee to give you a call the day before delivery, they actually started alerting me about a week before as to delivery date. They unpacked everything as well as they had packed it and even placed and replaced furniture in the new house for me. Nothing was damaged! I would use this company again in a heartbeat.

Long-distance move from Pasadena, TX to Columbus, OH

Do not use this company if you value your peace of mind

This company failed completely in fulfilling the service that we paid for, and was totally non-responsive to our desperate attempt to make it work. We hired them to pick up an expensive mattress set in Pasadena,TX and deliver to Columbus, OH. Over a 3-day period, we waited every day from 2-6pm, when they said the pick up would happen. We did our part by packing the mattress set, with hired help, moved to the ground floor. After they did not pick up on the first and second day, we spent our money to stay in a hotel, since the apartment had no bed now. On day 2 the apartment complained about a potential fire hazard with the mattress being in the open hallway. We tried to work desperately with TSI to get them to move the mattress. On day 3 we called them repeatedly, reached customer service agents 3 times, every time we were told they will try to get it picked up. We informed TSI that we needed to move out of the apartment at the end of the 3rd day evening. We also left about 20 voicemails trying to desperately get them to do something so that we can get the mattress set out and leave. No response and no character or integrity in any of them to fulfill on what they were already paid for. At the end of the day they closed down and just left for the day, without calling us to provide a solution. In the meantime we were trying to sell the mattress set or even give it away. At the end of the day, when they were already gone, we gave the very expensive mattress set to a trash company and departed from the apartment. TSI brought us to our knees through their complete inability and lack of decency and character to fulfill on a task they were paid for. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR PEACE OF MIND AND YOUR MONEY. We lost a lot of money in the process, the cost of the mattress set, the 2 nights of hotel stay, and the hired services to pay for packing the mattress set and moving it down to ground floor. THIS IS A SAD EXCUSE OF A COMPANY, THAT IS OPERATED BY COMPLETE [EDIT] WHO DO NOT CARE IF THE JOB IS DONE OR NOT. Use some other service, pay more money if necessary.

Official company response

This shipment was booked with our freight service. At the time of booking, our sales representative made it clear that we CANNOT guarantee a date for pickup due to the extensive delays and labor shortages we are seeing throughout the country. We also ask at the time of booking if there is a date or deadline for pickup and no date was specified. If it had been , we would have suggested a different service which would have been a better solution for this customer. Since we could not fulfill this customer's needs, we issued a full refund and waived the cancellation fee.

Long-distance move from Minneapolis, MN to Spokane, WA

Transit Systems Inc

We needed to move my mother from Minneapolis to Spokane, WA. The original idea involved renting a U-Haul, but the service from TSI proved to be suprisingly cost-effective in comparison. The items arrived when expected and in good shape. TSI was responsive throughout, made sure that we had proper contact numbers and - best of all - it was easy to get through to a human being when we called. I recommend their service for 'small load and long haul' situations.

Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Milwaukee, WI

Ghosted me twice after I paid upfront

I needed to move about 25 boxes across several states and made the mistake of using TSI. The initial interactions were very smooth and the account manager who I worked with was responsive and attentive. I paid upfront for the entire job and then waited for someone to contact me about when I could get my items picked up. I was contacted about two weeks later and was excited to get the boxes out of my small apartment so I could move forward with my life. The movers never showed up despite me blocking off time from work to accommodate the window they had specified. I contacted TSI and was bounced around. I was forwarded to a dispatcher who told me he would follow up with me in 24 hours but he never did. I called TSI again explaining what happened and they told me they would flag my account. Someone contacted me about a week later telling me that my pickup time was rescheduled. I moved my schedule around to accommodate this and was ghosted AGAIN. I texted the number who called me about the pick up and no response. At this point, these boxes had been in my small apartment for a month and a half and were actually ruining my life. I finally called TSI one last time and told me to cancel the order. To their credit, I was refunded the amount I paid upfront, but I would never recommend using their service. Terrible communication from the shipping companies - ghosting a client once is bad enough, but twice is completely unacceptable. I understand that resourcing issues happen, but a simple call would have made a world of difference.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1800

Official company response

TSI like many logistics companies has been experiencing delays due to lack of workforce over the past year. This shipment was scheduled several times and was unsuccessful. We were trying to get answers from our dispatcher (not ghosting) our customer. When we knew we could not fulfill the service, we issued a full refund to our customer.

Long-distance move from Michigan to Oregon

Spare yourself the circus.

This company is a joke. I needed to ship a piece of furniture from Michigan to Oregon. After I paid for the shipment in full, the circus began. For 6 weeks they would leave a message on my Aunt's answering machine every Monday stating they would be there after 10am on a weekday. My Aunt would call them back - every week - and ask they did an afternoon pick up so she did not have to take off work or come at noon when her husband was off work. After a few weeks of this cycle my Aunt asked to speak to the supervisor because it was obvious no one was communicating in their company. Finally the supervisor told her it was inconvenient for them to have to go back to that side of town, it had to be a morning pick up, and they don't work weekends.    At that time I begin to contact via email to see what my options were, no reply for 10 days, I email again - no reply. I finally email Kathy who took my payment and started the transaction. They have now had my money for nearly 2 months, no communication and the run around.    I tell Kathy if you can't do the job just refund my money. She then tells me they will charge me a $100 cancellation fee. At this time it was mid December (October 22nd started the process) My Aunt had 2 weeks off work - I tell Kathy you have two weeks to pick this up, if not I am going to the BBB - she tries to absolve them of any bad business behavior. I thought giving them 2 weeks on their preferred time schedule they would be able to pick it up right away - it was near the end of the 2 weeks. I only knew they picked it up because my Aunt told me. I never received an email or phone call.    Three more weeks go by and I hear nothing. Not an email, not a tracking number - NOTHING. I email Kathy again - Oh sorry we sent you emails - it must have went in your junk mail. I was checking the folder all along - no emails. They were able to email me just fine before the pick up, when they actually sent an email. She states it should be there in a week. Nearly 3 weeks past after that email and I finally get a call late in the evening stating it will be there between 1-5pm. I asked them to call me 30 minutes before arrival so I could leave work. They did not. I knew in my gut they would not even give me that courtesy call so I made a preemptive strike by working from home that afternoon. I did not know what to expect from this company any more. Thankfully, the piece was not damaged but it took 3 months. It was a very irritating process. They dropped the ball the entire time. This company is a 3-ring circus. Not worth the hassle. Pay the extra money and go with another company.

Long-distance move from Nebraska to New York

Excellent customer service.

I found Transit System Inc through Google search when I was trying to find out a way for interstate moving of my belongings. I got cordial correspondence from the day I contacted them. I got answers of any question that I asked them over the phone. Customer service was excellent. Pickup was perfectly on time by very decent driver and we had everything back nicely and undamaged. The person responsible for delivery was very approachable and took care of everything to deliver as promised by them and requested by me. They easily arranged moving my belongings (in multiple boxes) from roadside to my apartment with reasonable moving cost. I am very happy with the service. It was hassle-free and the price was very affordable.

Long-distance move from Washington to California

Transit Systems.

I had excellent experience with Transit Systems when we moved from Redmond, WA to California. Steve Sargeant was excellent in delivering what I needed. From the time I contacted them for a quote, Steve was straightforward in communication, to the point and always answered my questions with tremendous amount of patience. There was always an attempt to save money for me wherever possible. Steve, whilst busy, would always return my calls promptly. On the day of the pick up, the truck driver called me and they had concerns that I had not 'palletized' the boxes. However, Steve spoke to them about what was discussed with me and ensured that the boxes got picked up. Initially, I had the boxes delivered to a terminal in Irvine since I did not have a final address. Once the boxes reached Irvine, I spoke to Steve and had him arrange for them to be delivered to my address. Of course there was a fees but that was minimal when compared to the hassle of me picking them up on own (UHaul and what not!!).Finally, the price. I think the price is unbeatable and when you combine it with the quality, it makes for a great combo. I am extremely pleased with Transit Systems and recommend them to anyone without any reservation.
